Juan Sequeda is a distinguished figure in the AI, semantics, knowledge graph, and data analytics fields, with a robust background that spans both academic and industry spheres. As the Principal Scientist at data.world and the head of its AI Lab, Juan has been at the forefront of advancing AI and knowledge graph technologies within the data catalog industry. His role involves spearheading initiatives that integrate AI technologies and knowledge graphs to enhance business productivity. Throughout his career, Juan has been deeply committed to leveraging cutting-edge technologies to solve real-world business problems by leveraging data.
Juan earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from The University of Texas at Austin, where his research focused on semantic web and ontologies, particularly integrating relational databases with ontologies. His scholarly work has received several prestigious accolades, including the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship and the Best Student Research Paper at the International Semantic Web Conference. Juan’s academic pursuits have significantly contributed to the fields of data integration and semantic technologies, reinforcing his status as a thought leader and innovator.
Beyond his roles in academia and industry, Juan is a recognized thought leader in the AI and data analytics community. He has been actively involved in various capacities such as serving on the editorial board of the Journal of Web Semantics, and as a member of multiple knowledge graph and AI program committees.
